McDonald’s has been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. Being dragged into a presidential election controversy and having an E. coli outbreak in the same week will do that to a company.
However, it will undoubtedly weather the storm because of the popularity of its registered trademarks, I mean, food:

You probably noticed a certain McTheme to the McDonald’s McMarks. McDonald’s takes its McBranding process very seriously. And anyone who uses or tries to register a trademark starting with “MC” will undoubtedly end up on the receiving end of a cease and desist letter, trademark opposition, or lawsuit. In the last few months alone, McDonald’s has formally opposed trademark applications for MCWRAP, MCCOL, MCDFL, MCBEAUX, MCAHPLANET, MCROLL, MCSALAY, MCLAMBO, MCCORL, MCCAPITAL, MCLISS, MCVAZE, MCPINKY, and MCMAYR. I’m sure their trademark lawyers are loving it … Ba da ba ba ba.
